The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, formerly known as Boxi Hospital, was founded in 1883 (the ninth year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty). It is one of the first batch of tertiary hospitals in China, a provincial-level hospital directly under the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission, a regional medical center in Jiangsu Province, a high-level hospital, research-oriented hospital, and a provincial-level pilot hospital for high-quality development. In recent years, the hospital has successively won honors such as National Civilized Unit, National Advanced Collective in Hospital Culture Construction, and Health News Hospital Reform and Innovation Award.
