Recently, the 8th International Symposium on Water Resources and Environmental Management (WREM 2025) was successfully held in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu. As a leading enterprise in the field of deep-ultraviolet water disinfection technology, MASSPHOTON was invited to attend the event and delivered apresentation titled "Performance Evaluation of High-Efficiency Water Disinfection Modules Based on UV-C LED Technology" during the conference report session. Its innovative technological achievements and in-depth applied research not only aligned precisely with the symposium's green innovation concept but also garnered high recognition and enthusiastic responses from attending experts and scholars, making it one of the highlights of the conference.

WREM 2025

The WREM is a global research conference focused on the sustainable utilization of water resources and environmental protection, with significant influence the water industry. This year's conference featured seven key areas, including water resources planning and agricultural water management, watershed hydrology and flood risk management, water quality treatment and pollution control, climate change impacts on water resources, interdisciplinary water management strategies, and marine and coastal ecosystem protection. The agenda covered the entire spectrum from technological innovation to policy frameworks, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration to address global water and environmental challenges. It is this strong focus on cutting-edge technologies and practical applications that attracted participation from research institutions, enterprises, and related organizations worldwide, making WREM 2025 a crucial platform for advancing technological innovation and the application of research outcomes in the field of water resources and environmental management. Among the highlights, the UV-C LED water disinfection technology presented by MASSPHOTON demonstrated remarkable advantages in the area of water quality treatment and pollution control, naturally emerging as one of the focal points of the conference.

In the conference presentation, the MASSPHOTON representative provided an in-depth analysis on UV-C LED water disinfection technology. Regarding technical principles and positioning, MASSPHOTON  highlighted that UV-C LED, as a novel digital disinfection technology, can effectively replace traditional chemical disinfection and mercury lamp methods. By emitting ultraviolet light at wavelengths of 270–280 nm, this technology precisely damages the genetic material (DNA/RNA) of microorganisms, achieving broad-spectrum microbial inactivation. Experimental data showed that the dual-chip LED structure significantly enhances photoelectric efficiency by 66.7% compared to single-chip solutions, laying a solid foundation for high efficacy disinfection application. This breakthrough not only established a robust basis for practical implementation but also allowed attending scholars to recognize the technology’s immense potential in improving water treatment efficiency.

The segment on performance validation and product characteristics particularly impressed the attending scholars. The report highlighted that MASSPHOTON's UV-C LED water disinfection module offers multiple advantages, including instant on/off capability, remarkable energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness (mercury-free). Rigorous testing confirmed that even with a 40% reduction in the number of LEDs, the module maintains a microbial inactivation rate of no less than 99.999%. Furthermore, it demonstrated no leakage within the water pressure range of 0.12–0.45 MPa, with all performance metrics complying with drinking water hygiene standards. These results fully demonstrated the product’s stability and reliability, forming key evidence for academic recognition of the technology.

Regarding technological applications and market analysis, MASSPHOTON introduced that the UV-C LED disinfection technology has already been successfully deployed in critical infrastructure such as medical and commercial facilities, while also playing a significant role in public spaces like hospitals and schools, as well as in smart home water purification devices. According to authoritative industry forecasts, the global UV-C LED market is expected to exceed $10 billion by 2025, with the healthcare sector accounting for approximately 35%. The application market in public spaces is experiencing particularly rapid growth, offering vast opportunities for MASSPHOTON's technology promotion and industrial expansion.

In terms of future development trends, UV-C LED technology will further integrate with cutting-edge technologies such as photocatalysis, artificial intelligence, and perovskite materials, driving the intelligent development of embedded disinfection systems in home appliances and circulating disinfection systems. Specifically, by 2025, intelligent disinfection systems are projected to become standard in newly built medical institutions. By 2030, the global UV-C LED market is expected to surpass $100 billion. MASSPHOTON will continue to focus on technological innovation and industrial chain collaboration, actively seizing market development opportunities to inject new momentum into the advancement of water resources and environmental management.

the 8th International Symposium on Water Resources and Environmental Management

MASSPHOTON's presentation was well-supported with field test data, and the advanced design and practical feasibility of the technology sparked lively discussions among the audience. Many attending experts and scholars expressed appreciation for the progress MASSPHOTON has made in UV-C LED water disinfection technology, recognizing it as an efficient and eco-friendly innovative solution for safe water disinfection and sustainable management, with significant academic value and broad application prospects.

Following the presentation, global academic experts at the conference highly praised MASSPHOTON's UV-C LED disinfection technology. Multiple experts pointed out that this technology represents a major breakthrough in water disinfection, offering a new solution for water environment management with its high efficiency, energy savings, and environmental benefits, which is of great significance for promoting global sustainable water resource utilization. Some scholars also noted that MASSPHOTON's technological achievements not only hold considerable academic value but also exhibit promising potential for industrialization, expressing eagerness to engage in deeper academic exchanges and collaboration with the company to jointly promote the practical application of technological results.

MASSPHOTON's participation in WREM 2025 and the high recognition from the academic community demonstrate that the company’s technical capabilities have been fully affirmed by the industry. Moving forward, the company will continue to deepen its expertise in deep ultraviolet (UVC) LED chip technology and the development of application products. By integrating Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, MASSPHOTON aims to continuously refine professional industry solutions for various scenarios, including commercial, medical, and household applications. Through the deep integration of technology and application, the company is committed to contributing to the creation of safer, cleaner, and healthier living and working environments.
