2025 The 8th International Symposium on Water Resource and Environmental Management (WREM 2025) will be held from September 19 to 21 in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. MASSPHOTON, a leading company in ultraviolet water disinfection technology, has been invited to attend the conference and will deliver an academic presentation titled “Performance Evaluation of High-Efficiency Water Disinfection Modules Based on UV-C LED Technology”.

As a highly regarded international forum in the field of water resources and environmental management, WREM brings together scholars and industry experts worldwide to discuss water treatment technologies, pollution control, environmental sustainability, and public health. MASSPHOTON’s presentation is included in the “Disinfection and Safe Water Use” session, focusing on the technical performance and practical engineering applications of UV-C LED technology.

Key points of the presentation include:

l Technology Principles and Positioning: UV-C LED is an emerging digital disinfection technology that offers an alternative to traditional chemical and mercury lamp disinfection methods. By emitting ultraviolet light at 260–280 nm, the technology disrupts microbial genetic material (DNA/RNA), achieving broad-spectrum inactivation. Experiments indicate that a dual-core LED structure improves photoelectric efficiency by 66.6% compared to single-core configurations.

l Performance Verification and Product Features: UV-C LED water disinfection modules offer instant activation, significant energy savings (70–90% compared to conventional methods), and environmental compliance (mercury-free). Laboratory tests show that even with a 40% reduction in LED quantity and a 27.5% decrease in irradiance, the modules still achieve a microbial inactivation rate of no less than 99.999%. The system operates reliably under 0.12–0.45 MPa water pressure without leakage, meeting international drinking water hygiene standards.

l Applications and Market Analysis: The technology has been applied in critical infrastructure such as medical and industrial facilities, public spaces including transportation and schools, and smart home water purification devices. Industry projections estimate that the global UV-C LED market will reach billions of dollars by 2025, with healthcare accounting for approximately 35% of the market and public space applications showing significant growth.

l Future Development Trends: UV-C LED technology is expected to integrate further with photocatalysis, artificial intelligence, and perovskite materials, enabling embedded home appliance disinfection and intelligent cyclical disinfection systems. By 2025, smart disinfection systems are projected to become a standard feature in newly built medical facilities, with the global market potentially exceeding $100 billion by 2030. Companies are encouraged to focus on technological innovation and industrial ecosystem collaboration to capture market opportunities.

MASSPHOTON continues to advance the research and application of UV-C LED water disinfection technology, providing safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible disinfection solutions through in-house R&D and stringent quality control.
